What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based structured psychotherapy that helps you to connect deeply with present moment awareness using bilateral stimulations like eye movements while focusing on the painful memory thus providing your mind and body another opportunity to process the experience.

The result? A reduction in the intensity and emotional impact of these memories on your current life.
How EMDR can help you
As a full member of the EMDR Association of Australia, I am here to walk alongside you on this transformative journey.

My approach combines my background and training in a combination of therapeutic frameworks that are designed to help you explore various aspects of your experiences and the survival strategies you’ve developed to help you to keep going:
ATTACHMENT-INFORMED EMDR
Expands on standard EMDR by including a deeper understanding of your childhood experiences, to help you build more secure relationships today.
COMPASSION-FOCUSED THERAPY
Teaches you to cultivate the skills of self-compassion to better regulate your mood and feelings of safety, self-acceptance and comfort.
PARTS WORK
Address the inner parts and internal conflicts we all have as humans, giving each part a voice and a way to coexist more comfortably.
This exploration often leads to profound insights about who you are and the complexities or obstacles you encounter as a human. Whether our sessions are conducted in person or virtually, know that EMDR therapy offers a versatile yet powerful means to tackle current difficulties rooted in past adversities in your life.
Using EMDR to break the cycle
Our childhood experiences can have a deeply resonating effect on our lives. Problems like family instability, neglect, emotional or physical abuse and substance abuse can negatively impact our relationships, workplace experiences, parenting, and overall well-being well into adulthood.
These effects can pass down through generations, from parent to child, and also come as a result of our wider social contexts — patriarchy, colonialism, war — causing wounds that become a cyclical, collective experience.
Breaking these cycles takes work.

Think of the oldest trees that stand in a garden. For years, they have offered shade and shelter against the elements in the same way that our brains and bodies work hard to protect us from life’s stressors. But left unchecked, these big trees can overtake the garden and make it hard for any new growth to thrive. Their roots run deep and complex, but the hard work of pruning them back is necessary for newer plants to have a chance to take root themselves.
Relational Integrative EMDR
In cases where we’re addressing intergenerational or collective trauma, as well as your own relational woundings, I have found Relational Integrative EMDR (RI-EMDR) to be a highly effective and compassionate way of working. RI-EMDR integrates various therapeutic approaches such as Attachment Informed EMDR, somatic/polyvagal and parts work to work with the connection of mind–body–spirit to help you to return to wholeness.

Our work will look at how your body holds these trauma and also how your body, mind and spirit can be your source of strength as you learn to heal. We can explore the connection between your lived experiences and your dreams as a way to reveal more of who you are and the inherent wisdom you possess.
In addition to RI-EMDR, I have also received training in:
DREAMS
EARLY INTERVENTION AND ONGOING STRESS
NEURODIVERSITY AFFIRMING EMDR THERAPY
